I am currently a Serra Húnter Lecturer in the Department of Specific Didactics at the Education Faculty, Universitat de Lleida (Spain). I teach English didactics for very young learners in the Pre-Primary and Primary Education degrees (3rd year), where we look at the language learning idiosyncrasies of very young learners and how to best address them in the English as a foreign language class. I am also in charge of the subject Innovation in Language Teaching and Classroom-based Research in the M.A. Secondary Education Teacher Training and Language Teaching. In this subject, I provide pre-service secondary school English teachers with the conceptual and practical tools for carrying out inquiry-based teaching innovation within the framework of action research. I am also a practicum supervisor and as such I am in contact with primary and secondary schools in Catalonia where the Education students gain experience before embarking on their own professional path. Recently, I became involved in the M.A. programme Advanced Teacher Training for Pre-Primary and Primary Education where I am a member of the teaching staff in the Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) specialisation itinerary. I have designed two of the subjects offered in this itinerary, namely An Introduction to CLIL Methodology and Learning in the CLIL Classroom. This M.A. programme is fully taught on-line, which makes it a challenging professional experience for me.
Until 2016, I was a member of the English Philology department at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain). Here I taught both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the area of language and linguistics. My courses ranged from 1st to 4th year and were both generalistic and specialised, dealing with English language, the descriptive grammar of English, English phonetics and phonology and academic writing skills. The applied linguistics subjects I taught dealt with classroom-based research and EFL teaching. More specifically, I lectured on classroom observation and research methods and curriculum and syllabus design for EFL contexts. At the postgraduate level, I lectured on Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) approach in the M.A program Advanced English Studies. In 2014/2015, I participated in the postgraduate programme Postgraduate Certificate in Content and Language Integrated Learning (PCCLIL), organised by the Education Faculty (UAB) and addressed to in-service and future primary and secondary school teachers in Catalonia (Spain), where I designed and taught part of the module Talking, writing and reading to learn in the CLIL classroom.
