English-Medium Instruction

English-medium instruction is on the rise in Catalan universities and, with it, the necessity to train academic staff on how to deliver highly demanding content to an audience who is not always proficient in English for academic purposes. This has created a demand for tailor-made training courses that address the needs of university instruction in a context where English is a foreign language.

I have designed a series of workshops in which I provide lecturers with strategies for maximising content and language learning in English-Medium Instruction and I help them to deal with the communicative hiccups that arise in such contexts.

I teach my workshops for several Catalan universities:

Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya

Skills and strategies for teaching content subjects through English at university (2011 to date)

Universitat Internacional de Catalunya Curs d’habilitats i estratègies per impartir docència en anglès (2014 to date)

Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona Recursos i estratègies per començar a impartir docència en anglès (2008-2012)
